Post A.P Blog

This week I am ashamed to say I did not focus much on Personal Finance. I was busy studying for my A.P. Euro Exam. Yay? Due to that, I have trouble remembering anything in the past because it is considered History but I'll try my best. Ready? Go! This week we learned about credit cards and credit score and a sad story about a teacher who ended up in a lot of debt. I searched up a lot of credit cards, hoping that one of them can accept my good credit and still have some benefits. Now I hope I can afford the APR.............

What goes into a dollar?

So this week in Personal Finance class we entered the wonderful world of money. (Big Shocker) We watched a movie about how money is made.  More specifically the US dollar. It's not as easy as printing a dollar on the copy machine. There is so much that goes into making a dollar, that the movie took most of the class. There is no way I could be a counterfeiter. That's way too much work.

So... This week...

This week has been a big leap for all of us! We have now moved from Economics to Personal Finance. Hooray? It appears that my paycheck amount does not mean I work at GIIERU any longer. If I was, I would definitely be making more money. The amount of money I have in my bank account could be better, but hey, I'm not broke!

Coke to the Rescue.

This week we watched a movie, yes a movie. This movie pertained to Econ by showing us corporate empires and what we could do to be just like them. The movie was about Pepsi-co, the company that owns more than you would at first realize. Pepsi-co owns Pepsi (duh), Mountain Dew, Frito Lays, Aquafina and more.
Who knew Pepsi was that ambitious? "First the soda business, than the world!" That is why we have champions for good like Coke on our side to stop Pepsi and its corporate empire from spreading any further. Coke 1 Pepsi 0.

What we learned this week.

This week we learned about Math and the pain it can inflict on the mind. We also learned that elasticity is weird, such as how the factors of income and market size can greatly influence how many people buy a certain amount of something. This will help us in the learning process by giving us something to measure profits with.

Let it snow, Let it curve, Demand away!

This week in Economics, we learned two important things: that snow can seriously shorten a week, and that Demand isn't completely black and white. Demand isn't just wanting something as I thought. Demand is wanting something and then being able to pay for it. So if I say that I have a demand for some snow, that is incorrect. I don't think God accepts VISA or Master Card... I think this demand and demand curve will help us find a way to get Weserville out there through advertisement. The question is "what do the people have in demand that Weserville has?"

Al Capone Does my Taxes...

So this week in the little world of Weserville, we learned about taxes. Taxes are the bane of most people's existence and livelihood, or so I've been told. We found out that Al Capone, you know, the gangster, didn't go to jail for his crimes, he went to jail for not paying his taxes. I can imagine the conversation in jail went something like this:
(Guy 1, Guy 2, and Guy 3 wait patiently in the Alcatraz cell as their new inmate, Al Capone is dropped off. The three guys don't know who he is and so Guy 1 begins. . .)
Guy 1: So who are you and what are you in for?
Capone: My name is Al Capone and I am in here because I-
Guy 1: Wait don't tell me, you killed someone?
Capone: Yes but I-
Guy 2: You were caught with moonshine?
Capone (irritated now): Yes but I-
Guy 3: You ran a gang and ruled the streets with an iron fist?
Capone (angrily): Yes, but that's NOT why I'm here!
Guy 1: It's not, than why are you here?
Capone (sighs): I didn't pay my taxes.
(Guy 1, Guy 2, and Guy 3 all erupt into laughter)

All in all, this taxes thing is really a way for the government to pay for everything it needs done. We may need to know about this stuff if Weserville ever has to pay for a pointless project, like Walmart perhaps?
